In Plato's
Republic, democracy reaches a critical turning point, or extreme, when the insatiable desire for absolute liberty causes citizens to reject all forms of authority and social structure. This excessive freedom leads to chaos and a demand for a strong leader, which ultimately paves the way for tyranny.
Plato outlines the progression of government forms, with democracy being the second-to-last stage before tyranny:
- Emphasis on Freedom: Democracy's core value is freedom, which is initially positive, but the desire for more liberty becomes an obsession.
- Disorder and Incompetence: This extreme pursuit of freedom leads people to disregard necessary laws and order, resulting in a chaotic society. Citizens elect leaders based on personal desires and rhetorical skill rather than true knowledge or competence in governance (the "ship of state" analogy).
- Rise of the Demagogue: In this state of confusion, a "champion of the people" or a demagogue emerges, promising to restore order and challenge the elites.
- Transition to Tyranny: Once empowered, this leader consolidates power through force, eliminates opposition (labeling them as enemies), and uses a personal bodyguard (often made up of emancipated slaves or criminals) to suppress the citizens who initially supported him. The result is the most extreme form of government: tyranny, where the people, in their quest for unlimited freedom, end up as total slaves to their tyrannical ruler.
Plato's critique was largely aimed at the direct democracy of ancient Athens, which he believed was flawed because it gave equal political power to those with and without the necessary knowledge or moral character to rule well. He argued that expertise, like in medicine or navigation, is essential for governance and should be held by wise "philosopher-kings"

Kā Jūs skaidrotu pilnīgi skaidri nosakāmas muļķības politiķu retorikā. Tā, ka visiem skaidrs, ka nav kaut kas pareizi. Trampa paziņojumi par pāvesta būšāanu, lieliski paveikto kognitīvo testu, Baidena dezorientēto tipināšanu ārzemju vizītē u.c. Kas tas ir un kāpēc tas ir?
Vai Amerikas vēlētāji netiek savā veidā ideoloģiski vakcinēti pret senilismu, muļķību, politiskā konteksta nejēgšanu un vai netiek izmantota iespēja vispār degradēt konservatīvo ideju, ja jau tāds tas gaismnesis (2 dzimumi, wokes prom no skolām, DEI apkarošana).
